In preparation for the upcoming Martin Luther King, Jr Holiday we are preparing students with some knowledge of why we celebrate this day. Our hope is that they won't just view it as a day off but that they will put some thought into the work that Dr. King (and many others) did for our country.

Students learn best by doing and participating, and with that in mind we will be doing a project calledWalk a Mile in Someone Else's Shoes. We will be walking a mile around the school (staying on school grounds), 4 laps on a planned route. Students will then take the time that it took to walk a mile and do some calculations related to the distances people traveled to be part of the March on Washington.  Students will be doing some math and reflective writing after we walk a mile.
